What is planned
The preoperative stage includes imaging, traction radiographs, anesthesia assessment and consultations with the specialists involved in Sofia’s complex care.
Why these investigations are necessary
The team needs to evaluate spinal flexibility, surgical risk, anesthesia considerations and Sofia’s overall condition before finalizing the safest operative plan.
The interdisciplinary consultation
A complex spinal case cannot be reduced to one X-ray. The team reviews imaging together with Sofia’s neurological, nutritional and respiratory situation so the surgical plan reflects the whole child.
The cost of this stage
Medical fees, travel, accommodation and related expenses make the preoperative stage a significant financial challenge before the family even reaches the operation itself.
€11,000 has been raised so far across the campaign. The family continues fundraising for the investigations, surgery and the practical costs of treatment in Switzerland.
How to help
Donations are one route. Sharing the verified medical information, sending the case to a company or introducing the association to potential sponsors can also be valuable.
