A hospital week can look ordinary from the outside. For Sofia’s family it means tests, travel, procedures, waiting and the careful work of making feeding safer.

Admission in Cluj

At the beginning of August, Sofia returned to Cluj for an important stage in her gastrostomy care. The device is central to how she receives nutrition, fluids and medication.

The procedure

The gastrostomy replacement was completed successfully. The team monitored Sofia afterwards and the family was able to return home once she was stable.

Why the gastrostomy matters so much

Before tube feeding, Sofia struggled with aspiration, vomiting and getting enough nutrition safely. The gastrostomy has made feeding and medication more reliable and has supported efforts to help her gain weight.

Why the low-profile button comes later

A button-style device is fitted according to the healing and sizing requirements of the stoma. The family follows the treating team’s timing rather than rushing the change.

The road continues

This procedure was one necessary step in the wider preparation for spinal surgery. Sofia still needs daily feeding care, therapy, monitoring and the planned evaluations in Switzerland.

One stage completed

The family is grateful to the medical teams and to everyone helping them keep moving toward the next step.
