Two types of support
Some expenses can be handled through the nonprofit association and documented within its accounting. Other everyday family expenses may be paid through personal accounts. The website labels these routes separately so supporters do not confuse a personal transfer with a donation to the association.
Donations to the association
Association funds are intended for eligible expenses connected to its charitable purpose and are handled within the association’s financial records. Companies should contact the association for sponsorship documentation before making a corporate contribution.
Direct support for Sofia’s family
The family also has personal bank/Revolut options for day-to-day needs that may not be paid or documented through the association. These transfers are direct financial support to the family and are not presented as donations to the nonprofit.
What the money is needed for
- preoperative medical evaluation in Switzerland;
- the spinal surgery and hospital care;
- travel, accommodation and meals connected with the medical stay;
- medication, therapies and enteral nutrition;
- gastrostomy supplies, hygiene and everyday care.
€11,000 has been raised so far. Campaign totals can include support received through different routes, while each route remains clearly labeled.
Documents and updates
The family and association publish medical reports, estimates and key updates with identifying information redacted where needed. Costs may be estimates and can change if medical needs, length of stay or provider prices change.
Transparency also means explaining uncertainty
A quoted surgery price is not always the final invoice. Complex medical care may require additional investigations or treatment. The website therefore distinguishes between estimates, known costs and current fundraising goals where possible.
